Fall of 2010 and a New Dwelling!

So since Fall is my favorite time of year, I guess it is time to update the blog!

We have had a great time this Fall, traveling to see family and friends as well as finding some new hiking/biking spots here in the Upstate. We also so enjoyed have Clif and Edna Hawkes come for their "annual" Fall golfing trip this way!

This pic of Jer and I was taken at a new falls we biked to in Dupont State Forest in NC. If you have visited us, we took you to Dupont to see some great waterfalls. This little falls (Wintergreen) is on the other side of the park and certainly not so well traveled. We had a quiet Saturday afternoon here with few other folks and some great fall weather.

Our travels have included some time with our kids. We met Mike, Erin, Yuri and Kye in Kentucky to attend the University of Cincinnati/Sooners game in late September. Pictured here are the men Sooner fans at our B&B in Wilmore, KY where we stayed before and after the game. Had to get a pic of Yuri and EJ in front of the opponent's mascot in the Cincinnati Bengal's stadium. Captured the entire family in a pic before we went our separate ways early Sunday afternoon. It was great weather and a great time. Gotta love those young Sooner fans!



















The next weekend I made a quick trip to Washington D.C. to be with Rodney, Gina, Will and Eva at the wedding of good friends Paul Donnell and Audrey Morgan. Both kids stood up with the couple, Gina sang and Will was the ring bearer. It was a lovely golf course setting with another perfect Fall day. Will preformed as instructed -- yes, really after being promised 2 muffins. Of course it was a treat to hear Gina sing. Eva and I relaxed and enjoyed our sweet potatoes fries before the wedding. Will got a bike with training wheels from Paul as his gift for being in the wedding. Now that was fun!





















Ended October with a trip to Kansas for the inauguration of Central Christian College's new president. Met up with good friends and so enjoyed a Kansas Fall weekend. Brett is doing his med school rotations in Wichita, KS so we also got to spend a couple days with him. Med school is his life right now, and he does love it.

As I write this, I am sitting above a pool area filled with college VB and soccer players in Kissimmee, FL for the NCCAA division II national championships. Tomorrow I start my duties in the hospitality room, but today I am relaxing.

Last but not least, come July we will be moving to a new rental home in the Chicora Crest neighborhood of Greenville, SC. Here is a pic of the foundation and a look down the street from what will be our wrap around front porch. I am quite excited to get into a neighborhood and see what God has in mind for us there. This has been in the works for almost a year, so it is exciting to finally see some dirt being moved! We are working with Home of Hope (http://homesofhope.org) who help rejuvenate neighbors and encourage home ownership for those who often do not have that opportunity. We are viewing this has a real ministry opportunity to the neighborhood families. We will still have plenty of room for visitors!









As we enter another holiday season here in the South, I realize again how blessed we are to be here and have the opportunities the Lord has given to us. New experiences, new folks, recognizing the value of past experiences and the folks that were with us on those roads, these have all helped me grow in my love for the Lord and his direction in my life.

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23
